Colorado Fall Foliage Backpacking Elopement

Kelsey and Austin agreed to model for a styled shoot in Summit County, Colorado to feature the beautiful golden fall of Colorado. Although we just day hiked this trail, here are some tips for a successful fall backpacking elopement.

PICK A LESS STRENUOUS TRAIL THAN YOU NORMALLY WOULD:

There’s no shame in picking out an easier trail for your elopement. You’ll likely have extra weight from additional food options to elopement attire and even a bouquet. The extra weight will make for a more challenging hike. Easier doesn’t mean less beautiful! There are plenty of gorgeous backpacking trails all over Colorado for all ability levels.

LAYERS

Weather is unpredictable in the mountains and nothing could ruin a backpacking trip faster than improper clothing. If you’re opting to elope while backpacking remember to come over-prepared with warm, dry clothes. This is one adventure you don’t want to bail on!

Weight matters

Pay close attention to everything extra you are bringing minus the ten essentials. If you do opt to bring wedding attire seek out lighter weight materials for your dress or suit. Instead of a bottle of champagne opt for small bottles, or canned cocktails to enjoy. Every ounce matters.

Remember Leave no trace

The best way to enjoy the outdoors and your elopement day is by remembering the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace and protecting our public lands for future generations.
